Consultant, Customer Advocacy
Join Spotlight as a Consultant, Customer Advocacy: design and run scalable client customer advocacy programs, bridge client goals, and drive measurable impact.
As a Consultant focused on Platform Services, you are the operational heartbeat of our customer advocacy engagements at Spotlight. This is a mid-level strategic and hands-on role where you will design, launch, and manage scaled customer programs.
You aren't just managing a project; you are a consultant who understands how to bridge the gap between a client’s vision and Spotlight’s specialized internal teams. The ideal candidate is a strategic executor—someone who can look at a client’s business goals and build the practical processes and platform configurations to achieve them. While your primary focus is advocacy, you will also act as a savvy navigator within Spotlight, identifying opportunities to align your work with our Analyst Relations (AR) and Research & Intelligence (R&I) teams when it adds strategic value to the client.
Your Responsibilities
Strategic Execution & Program Management
End-to-End Delivery: Manage a variety of customer advocacy engagements, ensuring project milestones are met and deliverables exceed client expectations.
Process Design: Translate high-level strategy into clear, repeatable operational processes—from recruitment and vetting to content creation and rewards.
Program Orchestration: Project manage a variety of customer advocacy engagements, ensuring milestones are met with precision and high-quality deliverables.
Strategy Implementation: Design and operationalize strategies that empower customers to become long-term advocates, tailored to each client's unique GTM goals.
Platform Mastery: Launch and optimize customer programs using industry-leading tools (UserEvidence, Base, Deeto, SlapFive, etc.), ensuring the technology serves the human strategy.
Ongoing Advisory: Provide day-to-day executional support and advisory to help clients scale their impact, troubleshoot challenges, interpret program data, and grow their impact of their advocacy investments over time.
Internal & External Collaboration
Portfolio Management: Build trusted relationships with a diverse portfolio of clients, identifying opportunities for clients to maximize their customer advocacy programs.
R&I Integration: Partner with the Research & Intelligence team to incorporate data-driven insights into client programs and help surface "voice of the customer" trends for our researchers.
The Spotlight Connector: For clients using Spotlight’s AR and Customer Advocacy services, act as the primary liaison between the client’s advocacy goals and Spotlight’s internal AR Client Teams, ensuring a steady pipeline of customer references for MQ/Wave cycles.
Practice Development
Industry Pulse: Stay at the forefront of the advocacy landscape, keeping an ongoing pulse on emerging technologies and community-building trends.
Professional Brand: Contribute to Spotlight’s thought leadership through content creation and active participation in the global advocacy practitioner community.
Your Qualifications
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in community management, customer advocacy, or customer marketing (agency or consulting experience is a major plus).
Strategic Execution: A "builder" mindset—you have the critical thinking skills to design a plan and the discipline to execute it flawlessly.
Relationship Fluency: Natural ability to build rapport with clients and navigate projects with confidence and empathy.
Storytelling & Presentation: Strong communication skills; you can "read the room" and present data-backed insights in a way that resonates with stakeholders.
Data-Driven: Comfortable using data and analytics to measure program health and communicate impact to clients.
Collaborative Spirit: You thrive in a small-team environment and get a genuine thrill out of seeing your clients and teammates succeed.
Natural Curiosity: You are a natural problem-solver who asks sharp questions and follows the thread – connecting dots across the customer lifecycle to reveal high-value opportunities for your clients.
Additional Desired Experience
Advocacy Stack: Hands-on experience with platforms like UserEvidence, Base, Deeto, SlapFive, Reference Edge, or community tools like Higher Logic, Bevy, and Gainsight Communities.
Ecosystem Knowledge: Familiarity with HubSpot, Salesforce, and Google Workspace.
Visual Communication: Experience using Canva, Google Slides, or similar tools to create polished, client-ready decks and assets.
B2B Awareness: An interest in or basic understanding of functions within a B2B tech organization.
