AI Configuration Specialist
Join Spotlight as an AI Configuration Specialist: manage multi-client AI environments, build automation, QA data, and keep insights precise and trustworthy.
Spotlight's Research & Intelligence team operates a Managed Services practice that runs AI influence infrastructure on behalf of B2B technology clients. The work is centered on the Profound platform and involves configuring the environments that track how clients and their competitors appear in AI-generated responses from platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot.
The AI Configuration Specialist is the hands-on operator who makes this infrastructure work day to day. You manage client environments, configure prompt tracking, build and maintain automated agent workflows, run scheduled data pulls, QA outputs, and keep configurations current as categories and competitive landscapes evolve. You report to the Managed Services Lead.
Responsibilities:
Configure and maintain client environments in the Profound platform, including prompt universe setup, category mapping, competitive set definitions, and tracking parameters.
Build, test, and maintain automated agent workflows — citation tracking, prompt volume monitoring, displacement detection, and other intelligence automations, following Spotlight's methodology
Manage Knowledge Bases within Profound for each client, including baseline prompt sets, historical data, and reference documents that agents use for comparison and analysis.
Run scheduled data pulls and exports across the client portfolio. Monitor for completeness, flag anomalies, and resolve data quality issues before outputs enter the analyst workflow.
Optimize prompt universes on an ongoing basis, adding emerging prompts, retiring stale ones, adjusting category coverage as client needs and market conditions shift.
Maintain configuration documentation for each client account so that any team member can understand the setup, troubleshoot issues, or take over if needed.
Coordinate with analysts and consultants who consume platform data, ensuring they have clean, timely, methodologically consistent inputs for client deliverables.
Participate in client onboarding, executing the platform setup checklist for new Managed Services engagements under the direction of the Managed Services Lead.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, templatization, or workflow optimization, and raise them to the Managed Services Lead or Practice Enablement.
Requirements:
1–3 years of experience in a platform operations, configuration, or data operations role, preferably in a multi-client or agency environment.
Experience working with SaaS platforms in a configuration or administration capacity — setting up tracking, building workflows or automations, maintaining data quality across multiple accounts.
Background in one or more of the following is preferred: SEO platform management (Semrush, Ahrefs, BrightEdge, Conductor), marketing automation (HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot), media monitoring or social listening (Brandwatch, Meltwater, Sprinklr), or analytics/BI tool administration (Sigma, Tableau, Looker).
Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach to QA. This role is the last line before bad data reaches a client deliverable.
Comfort managing multiple client configurations simultaneously without losing track of what's where.
Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with CSV exports and structured data.
Clear written communication, you'll document configurations, flag issues to analysts, and contribute to onboarding materials.
Preferred:
Experience with or interest in AI, large language models, and how generative AI is changing information discovery.
Experience building automated workflows, alerting rules, or scheduled reporting within a SaaS platform.
Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts or AI influence optimization (AEO/GEO).
Experience in an agency or consulting environment managing platform configurations for multiple clients on a recurring basis.
